Bicycles Better Than Motor Vehicles

Bicycle
The oil companies have again increased petrol prices citing increased crude prices and the devaluation of the Indian Rupee. Petrol is one fuel that has seen at least five price hikes in this year. Even diesel and LPG prices are also expected to increase soon. This is forcing several vehicle users to contemplate switching to other means of transport.

While there are several inventions and researches on alternative means of transport we are completely ignoring the one vehicle that brought improved mobility to people – the bicycle. Cycle users were a common sight on any road but this seems to have slowly waned. The humble cycle is probably the best means of transport for city roads considering the increased fuel prices.

The cycle is low cost transport option. It can handle city roads with ease and is powered by the best possible source of power – the human body. Pedaling through city roads is also a healthy way of keeping yourself fit.

There are a variety of cycle models to suite your needs. For those who need to travel short distances only can go for a simple gear less cycle. But if you have to go on longer journeys, then you can opt for a geared bicycle. Geared cycles reduce the train on your legs while riding on steep roads.

You can also go for the slightly more expensive hybrid cycles that have a battery pack to power the wheels whenever needed.

Cycling has a long list of advantages. In financial terms it is a one time investment and does not incur huge servicing costs like motor vehicles. It is eco friendly and obviously has zero emissions. It is a perfect way of keeping fit. The only possible disadvantage is it is not as fast as conventional motorcycles and scooters. But all you need to do to solve this problem is improve your time management. Further, as you get used to regular cycling, your speed will also increase.
