Yamaha To Introduce FZ1
The bike will be fitted with a 1000cc, 4-cylinders to take on Honda"s CB1000R while globally it challenges Suzuki Bandit and Kawasaki Z1000S. normally super bikes are categorized on the engine capacity of 500cc+ and most of the manufacturers come from Japan - Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki- while the other players are Ducati and BMW who have all become familiar in Indian superbike market. Yamaha is seemed to have thought of homologation by launching this FZ1 in the Indian superbike market.
The company has fixed the price lesser than Honda CB1000R which has been so far the cheapest among the imported superbikes. The company has plans to import the bike as CBU either from Japan or Australia. Meanwhile there are indications for bringing the semi-knocked down form of FZ1in a bid to price the bike in a competitive manner. The average sale of superbikes from Yamaha in the Indian market is 80-100 units and the price is Rs14-24 lakhs.
Now the company is pinning on the hope that the customers would no longer look upon the cost factor for these sort of products. The product features are already familiar to the bike enthusiasts through the ad clippings from magazines. An official from Yamaha said that the prime target for the company is the enthusiastic youth for whom every need will be met with, from top to bottom. He further said that there will be an increase in the production from its facilities in UP and Haryana. The move comes in the wake of backlog up to 10000 orders on monthly basis though the existing capacity is 3.5 lakh annual units, he asserted, mentioning that the figure will be made to 8 lakhs.
