A New Hosur Plant For TVS Wego

TVS Motor, currently the strong contender for the top slot in the motorcycle segment is brushing the Hosur plant for increasing the capacity of its Wego model scooterette (which was launched a year ago). The company"s President for Sales and Marketing said there has been a huge demand for the TVS Wego since the launch and hence the plant is getting brisk activities.

As the homeland, Tamilnadu has always been a peak dearth for TVS and quite loyally TVS Wego is to be formally launched in February 2011, he added. TVS Wego is not yet introduced here and eastern parts of India. To fulfill these vacuum the Hosur plant is getting a revamp and to sustain the demand further.

As such the capacity will be increased from the current 12000 units to 20000 units. The current sales of TVS Wego, according to the company sources, is 12000-15000 units a month for which Tamil nadu and eastern parts of India do not cover. In all, the sale growth for TVS in November stood at 27% for two wheelers by selling 153882 units which was higher than 120844 units sold in the same period of 2009.

TVS received hike in the scooter sale too with the sale peaking to 36233 units against 25115 units in November 2009 making a rise by 44%. The launch of TVS Wego has made TVS to become the unique company to offer wide range in scooters- Scooty Teenz, Scooty Teenz Electric, Scooty Pep (becoming an iconic product) and Scooty Streak.
