TVS To Roll Out Twin-Spark Flame Soon
During the first phase of the fight between the two companies for patent infringement, the Madras High Court intimidated TVS from trading motorcycles with twin-spark, but however, TVS won its argument in the Supreme Court last September and now it is gearing up to re-launch Flame with twin spark plug. TVS had been selling the single spark Flame in the mean time for the past two years.
TVS has been posting remarkable sales figures in the recent months despite of no new products. The gear-less motorcycle Jive is selling 8000 units per month and the company hopes that it will sell around 12000 units during September which will further increase up to 15000 units during year end months. TVS has 100 cc motorcycles, the Star and Sport. The company is quite surprised with the increase in sales of mopeds which has grown up to 20 percent. TVS expects to sell 6.5 lakh units of mopeds in 2010.
According to Mr. Venu Srinivasan, the Chairman and MD of TVS Motors said that TVS has also witnessed a sudden increase in sales rise which has come from outside Southern regions of India. This is a surprising factor because, generally mopeds are believed to be a southern phenomenon. But as of now, the mopeds market have gained vigor in North and West of India. The inference is that the less than adequate marketing must have been the main reason for the same mopeds which were not sold in large numbers outside South in previously.
