Suzuki GSX-R1000 launched in India

Suzuki, the Japanese auto giant has strengthened its super bikes lineup in the country with its launch of GSX-R1000 and Bandit 1250S. Already Suzuki has Hayabusa and Intruder in the CBU segment. Suzuki GSX-R1000 costs Rs. 12.75 lakh (ex-showrom, Delhi) and is ranked as the costliest bike launched by the company in our country. Suzuki Bandit 1250S costs Rs. 8.5 lakh.

According to Chairman Katsumi Takata, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL), the company takes immense pleasure in offering outstanding technology and performance to the pro-bikers of India. SMIPL has targetted to sell 200 units of its new CBU bikes GSX-R1000 and Bandit 1250S during 2010-2011, as the company was able to sell the same number during the first year following the Hayabusa and Intruder launch.

SMIPL has been only a marginal player in the mass commuter bikes segment selling 1.88 lakh units in the 2009-2010 while the super bikes sales were upto 209 units since November 2008. The company is likely to launch 3 new products for the mass segment in the next 18 months and expand its business.
