Bajaj Auto Is Clear With Future Plans

Bajaj Auto, India's second largest two wheeler maker is making arrangements for the next phase of the company's growth. According to Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, MD of Bajaj Auto, the company is looking at a fresh onslaught of products which will keep Bajaj's growth momentum going. He added that, he has now answered the next product specifications but mentioned that an aggressive strategy is being worked out.

Bajaj's iconic brand models Pulsar and Discover which are available in different engine specifications and features fuel the company's sales volume. Every month, Bajaj Automobiles sells more than 2 lakh units of Pulsar and Discover (together) bikes. Bajaj is targeting to sell the two brands in higher volumes such as 2.5 lakh to 3 lakh units a month. The company is also confident that this target is achievable.

Bajaj has intruded into Hero Honda's commuter market after the launches of its Discover brand in the recent months. For instance, the sales of Discover brand has surpassed sales for Hero Honda's Passion brand. Bajaj's market share in the commuter segment has grown up to 25-30 percent in the past couple of years. In fact, Discover 100 and Discover 150 motorcycles have clearly played a massive role in making this possible as the monthly sales of nearly 1.5 lakh units was reached. The other cult brand, 'Pulsar' motorcycles are selling over 75,000 units, which was just 35,000 units during 2008-09 period.

Mr. Rajiv Bajaj stated that the sales figures indicated that Bajaj is on track and being driven by a good, robust brand strategy.
