Peace, Love, And Joy At Cochin This Christmas On The TVS Wego

First on our list was the most talked about St. George Syro-Malabar Catholic Forane Church, one of India's oldest churches, constructed in 594 AD.

While on our way to the church, we came across the Kochi-Muziris Biennale exhibition of contemporary art held in the city. The run was brisk enough, thanks to the Wego's refined, single-cylinder engine.

Having learnt enough, it was St. Francis Church, our first destination after gaining new knowledge. Although Vasco da Gama was buried here, in 1539, the remains of the legendary traveller's body was returned to Portugal, and now rests in Belém, Lisbon.

The next essential was food — how could one miss some delicious sea food in Kerala? Food during this time is catered with extra joy as the famous Cochin Carnival is on-going. The carnival is usually held during the last week of the year, and preparations begin months in advance.

The origin of the Cochin Carnival can be traced back to the time when the Portuguese had control over the coastal area. The entire town, elders and kids dressed in white are seen having fun with the array of games and celebrations.

The highlight of the Cochin Carnival is the massive procession on the New Year's Day, led by an embellished elephant accompanied by drums and music.

That is when the Wego proved its charms — easy to maneuver, thanks to the body balance technology and the Sync-Brake system, the scooter ensured we were part of the fun and arrangements. Also, the charging port ensured our phones were charged up to capture moments, and we were not lost!

After spending almost half day exploring Cochin, it was time to catch up on some delicious food by the seaside, and the the famous Seagull restaurant was the preferred choice.

The restaurant seating overlooks the Arabian Sea, and the entrance had a scooter parked, reminding one of the era gone past. In contrast to the old scooter, the Wego reminded us of how times have changed and how scooters have evolved over the years.

This is when the Wego stood out — modern telescopic forks, fully digital instrument console, under-seat storage, and an easy-to-use electric start option. Scooters have definitely advanced quicker than one can realise.

There is no doubt that even Santa Claus would trade his sleigh for the Wego, since the design is a sure shot head turner, and the practicality factor is high. Time to move on.
