World's Smallest V12 Engine That Runs On Air
Sure, massive engines are awesome. The sound of a 12 cylinder engine sitting in an exotic supercar is every man's dream. But for some a large engine is too mainstream. Take for example this engine here.
Despite being the world's smallest engine, this engine has 12 cylinders, assembled in a V12 configuration. The engine does not power any car though, but it is functional never the less. Check out images of this amazing piece of engineering in the gallery below.

The engine is the work of a Spanish engineer named Patelo, who has built every part of the engine by hand.

Image here is of a miniature connecting rod the size of a finger nail.

The image shown here is that of a piston, 12 of which goes into each cylinder, each measuring 11.3 mm in diameter.

Speaking of tiny parts, this miniature engine consists of 261 pieces, held together by 222 screws.

Patelo says he spent 1200 hours working on his miniature V12 engine, which he thinks, is probably the world's smallest V12 engine.

Every part of the engine (except the screws) are hand crafted by Patelo from stainless steel, aluminium and bronze.

The engine has a total capacity of 12cc.

Unfortunately, there is no car small enough for the engine to be fitted into.

Patelo's engine still functions thought, running on compressed air, injected with a pressure of 0.1kg/sq cm

We do hope someone takes the time to build a miniature Ferrari so that we could actually see it being powered by this miniature V12 engine.
