Watch The World's Fastest FWD Car To Hit 200mph In The Half Mile
A heavily modified Acura Integra shattered its way to a world record, going from a dead stop to 201.07 mph in a half mile drag.
Front-wheel-drive (FWD) system is usually associated with road-going, mass market cars and not track-based performance cars.
So does FWD cars have the ability to go fast in a straight line? But that's what a seemingly humble 1994 Acura Integra driven by one Myles Kerr did at a drag strip.
The Acura has gone from being a 12-second car that produced just 285bhp to a half-mile speed freak that goes over 200 mph and churning out close to 1000bhp.
At the Heuberger Subaru Pikes Peak Air Strip Attack at Colorado Springs Airport, the 1994 Acura Integra joined the 200 mph club. However, there is a lot of effort before the Acura Integra broke the 200mph barrier.
As per 1320video, Myles claimed the front-drive half-mile record with a 198-mph run in 2016, which fell short of his expectation. However, at this year's Airstrip Attack, he finally broke the 200-mph barrier.
This time, the turbocharged Acura Integra sprinted to 201.07 mph, surpassing its previous speed and making it the fastest front-wheel-drive car ever in the half-mile.
Now sit back, relax and watch the video below.
