Willie Bus Concept With Transparent LCD Screens For A Body
Willie bus is a concept, a virtual concept to be exact, that designed by Tad Orlowski. The basic idea behind the Willie bus is a simple one. Turn the sides of the bus into a giant television.
The idea of using the large surface area of a bus side wall for displaying advertisement is not new. However, what distinguishes the Willie bus from a regular bus with digital displays is the fact that Orlowski's design seeks to transform the side elevations themselves into giant transparent LCD displays.
The technology is supposedly already in serial production and application in many parts of the world, but has never been applied to a bus. The transparent screen works like any other LCD display unit and could even incorporate touch screen controls.

The design of Willie bus as described by its designer, "Willie represents minimalistic and elegant design that emphasizes the functional aspect of this mode of transport. The large, smooth surfaces and soft rounded outer frame create a sense of serenity and peacefulness. This is offset by a stylishly organic, simply chaotic structure that forms the construction of the bus frame. The refreshingly new solution takes on a special effect after the interior is illuminated, creating an impression of restless energy attempting to cut through the unblemished surface of the glass."
The obvious benefits of turning a bus into a TV are several. First and foremost being video advertising. But it may not be limited for commercial purposes. The technology could be used to display bus routes, location information, weather reports, news coverage, tourist information and lots more.
