The WILL.I.AMG Is Bespoke Gone Bananas - Mashes Mercedes AMG GT & G Wagen Together

Black Eyed Peas rapper will i. am. and Mercedes have revealed their one-off custom car ahead of the F1 Miami GP. The bespoke car dubbed the WILL.I.AMG has been modified by West Coast Customs and is based on the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door.

The modified car claims Mercedes is a visible symbol of the goals of Mercedes-AMG and will.i.am to boldly drive forward new ideas, push boundaries and dare to do the impossible.

Mercedes also states that the new bespoke car also sets an example for the future: the mission of this joint project "The Flip - Innovation for Purpose" is to give more students from disadvantaged communities access to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) education in order to be equipped with the skills required for future-focused jobs and to invent new technologies.

Speaking about the WILL.I.AMG, his sixth collaboration with the team at West Coast Customs, the rapper will i.am. said, "I grew up in a ghetto. I grew up with hip hop. I watched legendary hip hop artist rap about Mercedes, so it was always a dream to own a Mercedes. For a lot of inner-city kids, owning a Mercedes is a symbol of progress and advancing out of struggle. Now I've reached my goal and pushed even higher by re-imagining and creating my own vision of an AMG model. But I didn't touch the engine, because AMG really does make the best engines. The story of the founders of AMG truly inspires me and it is energizing to collaborate with like-minded people who also seek continuous improvement."

Philipp Schiemer, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH also gave his thoughts about the new car and the brand's partnership with the Black Eyed Peas rapper stating, "Our cooperation with will.i.am has reached a new peak with 'The Flip'. We have inspired and motivated each other in the realisation of this holistic concept, which is far more than an exceptional automotive one-off. We take our responsibility to society seriously. The success of Mercedes-AMG as a Performance Luxury brand also depends to a large extent on inspiring the next generation and giving them easy access to the latest technologies and digital progress. It is part of our tradition to always be pioneers and to dare to do something new. We are continuing this legacy into the future together with will.i.am and 'The Flip'."

So what exactly is the WILL.I.AMG? Well, to make this bonkers bespoke car, West Coast Customs took a Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door and went to town with it. The front end of the sports car is obviously inspired by that of the Mercedes G Wagen SUV and features circular headlamps flanking each side of a rectangular grille section that plays host to a custom logo dubbed 'Bear Witness' by the Black Eyed Peas rapper.

The boxy G-Wagen inspired lines continue on the sides of the car which features bespoke lines and massive wheel arches that play host to a set of snazzy custom alloy wheels. Instead of the usual four doors the AMG GT 4-Door is known for, the WILL.I.AMG sports suicide doors hinged to the rear of the car which is what we think is this custom ride's signature styling piece. Also seen are a panoramic roof and what looks to be a regular AMG GT 4-door rear end.

Thoughts on the WILL.I.AMG

The WILL.I.AMG is the sixth one-off car from the mind of rapper will.i.am. and the team at West Coast customs. Like the rapper's previous commissions, the WILL.I.AMG is as bonkers looking as they get and while not to everyone's taste will sure attract attention wherever it goes.
