SERVO xP95 Presents VROOM Drag Meet 6th Edition — India’s Premier Drag Racing Event Is Here!
Exciting times are back with the latest edition of VROOM around the corner. The 6th edition of VROOM Drag Meet is scheduled to take place between March 4-6, 2022, at Taneja Aerospace and Aviation, Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The event is subjected to government regulation, COVID protocol and lock down norms in the State of Tamil Nadu.
Each year, VROOM brings together passionate racers and racing enthusiasts across the country to engage in some serious competition. The goal? Racers are required to clock the quickest timing over a quarter-mile section of the runway. Timings are officially calculated by the FMSCI (Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India), who preside over the races and time sheets.
Ahead of VROOM Drag Meet 6th Edition 2022, here is a quick know-before-you-go on India's premier drag racing event.
March 4 - Day 1
Kicking things off early, the first day will be focused on scrutiny and final registration-related procedures. There are no planned races on Day 1.
Participants and their machines will be scrutinized by the watchful eyes of race officials. The vehicles will be inspected to ensure adherence to standard safety practices and promptly identify issues that could potentially hamper the machine's run at the event.
In addition, the participants' riding gear is also checked for compliance. Participants competing in the two-wheeler segments are required (mandatory) to wear a leather race suit with back and knee protectors, along with full-length race boots, full-gauntlet gloves and a proper full-face helmet with Double-D rings.
Those competing in their four-wheeled machines are required to wear a crash helmet, race shoes and gloves. In a nutshell, expect riding/ driving gear, and machine reviews and inspections on Day 1.
March 5 - Day 2
Welcome to Race Day! Day 2 will see Indian cars and bikes on the track, taking to the quarter mile in an attempt to clock the fastest times. From stock cars and bikes to modified monsters on wheels, the quickest machines made in India will engage in a battle of the best.
Be it two-stroke or four-stroke, small bikes or large bikes, there are takers for enthusiasts in each segment. If cars are your jam, everything from the humble Maruti Suzuki Zen to the hyper Honda City sedans pushing out hundreds of horses, are expected to take on their run. We don't know about you, but we think it should make for an exciting time out on the drag strip.
6 March - Day 3
The final and possibly the most anticipated day of the drag meet, will see records being set and broken. Also on schedule, a visual treat to the eyes and ears with supercars and superbikes taking on the drag strip. Be prepared for one of the loudest days of your life!
The fastest (and loudest) supercars and superbikes across the country will indulge in epic competition to claim the title in their respective classes. The souped-up Suzuki Hayabusa and BMW S1000RR motorcycles will take on each other to thrill biking enthusiasts.
If you love your supercars, you are in for a treat with the likes of Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, Audi, etc., going at it on the track.
Classifications
Correct classification of vehicles is crucial to ensure fair competition. There are currently 35 classifications under 4-wheelers and 20 under two-wheelers.
However, it is key to note that a minimum of 10 entries is required to form a class. In a bid to be more inclusive and diverse, a separate classification for women riders and drivers joins the party. Here's to showcasing more women in motorsports!
