Virat Kohli has revealed that his first car was a Tata Safari. Kohli, the former India and RCB captain also revealed in an interview the reason why he purchased the Safari.
The current darling of the Indian cricketing fanbase, who is known by his fans as King Kohli recently talked about his car collection in an interview with Star Sports as part of his duties with RCB in IPL 2023.
Kohli revealed that the real reason why the first car he bought with his own money was a Tata Safari. The former Indian captain's reasoning for purchasing the Safari is something most people who've lived in the nation's capital will surely understand.
Kohli stated that the reason for purchasing the Safari was a simple one, its presence, which was boosted by the fact that it was considered a staple of the political class.
At that time, seeing a Safari on the road, especially one in white, saw people scrambling to get out of the way to ensure they didn't anger the passing neta. This was more than enough reason for the King to choose the Safari, which was recently resurrected in the form of a 7-seater version of the Harrier.
However, Kohli did suffer a rather bad blooper when driving around the capital in his safari. When he pulled into the pumps one day, Kohli & Co forgot to inform the attendant that they needed diesel and instead ended up with a full tank of petrol instead.
With his star on the rise, thanks to his exploits with the World Cup-winning national team and his brilliance in the IPL, Kohli's selection of cars moved to new territories. Kohli's pride and joy during this period was an Audi R8.
However, times have changed and the King of Indian cricket is now a family man, which has meant a switch to SUVs as he is now a family man.
Thankfully, Kohli has stuck with Audis thanks to his partnership with the German luxury firm. This has placated his need for speed with safety added on.
However, he does sometimes still go off on a different tangent as the former Indian captain was also recently seen in his Panamera, a four-door, four-seater sports sedan from Porsche, which like Audi is part of the Volkswagen group.
