Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari recently checked out the tiny Yulu Miracle e-bike as he continues to push India towards an electric future.

Union Minister Gadkari, who is a very vocal proponent of electric vehicles took his time to inspect the tiny lightweight Yulu Miracle e-bike. The Minister sat on the single seat offered on the low-slung e-bike which features a sensor that senses if a person is sitting down on it and then displays the battery charge state to the rider.

The Yulu Miracle e-bike has become a very common feature on the roads of many Indian cities as it has become the e-bike rental of choice for food delivery riders from Swiggy and Zomato. Unlike other e-bikes and scooters in the market, the Yulu Miracle is not available to purchase. Instead, riders can rent a Miracle e-bike using the Yulu app.

The small e-scooter has a top speed of 25km/h and features a lithium battery pack It also features a solid rubber front tyre which Yulu claims is puncture proof. The low slung Miracle features a unisex frame claims Yulu which it says is uniquely designed and custom built for Indian road conditions.

The wide footboard allows for more space to transport stuff like the large delivery bags used by food delivery personnel. Other features include weather proof QR codes which allow for easy scanning and unlocking of the Yulu Miracle EV.

The Miracle from Yulu also features a mobile phone holder which allows riders to use their phones for navigation. Another unique feature is a wrist operated bell that can be be activated by twisting the left handlebar grip. The right side of the handlebar sits the display for the battery charge indicator.

The Miracle features a small LED headlight for better visibility. The Automatic Headlight On (AHO) rule compliant headlamp features a LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) sensor which can automatically switch on the headlamp depending on ambient light conditions.

The Miracle electric bike from Yulu also features a lightweight and easy to use stand that can lock itself. The Yulu Miracle's stand and lightweight body allows riders to step off the bike and parkin a single motion.

The Yulu Miracle isn't the only electric or electrified vehicle that Minister Gadkari has recently been seen checking out. The minister is said to be the main driving force behind bringing the arrival of the Mirai hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle from Toyota to India. The Toyota Mirai runs on compressed hydrogen which is mixed with oxygen from the air to generate electricity.

The Toyota Mirai holds the record for the longest distance covered by a hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle without refuelling, covering a distance of 1,352 kilometres on a single tank of Hydrogen. The record which was set last year in California also set the benchmark for electric vehicles to aspire to. Minister Gadkari recently arrived in Parliament aboard a Mirai.

The Minister has also been seen checking out the Ola S1 Pro, the Honda City hybrid and quite a few other green vehicles in recent times.

Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways checking out the tiny Miracle e-bike is a testament to his commitment to go green. Hopefully, with Minister Gadkari at the wheel, India can continue pushing towards a greener future thanks to the minister's push to bring flex fuels and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles along with regular battery powered EVs in an expedited manner.
