Uber Customer Rs 7.66 Crore Bill: Social Media In Shock

A regular Uber Customer in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, by the name of Deepak Tenguriya, booked a trip on Uber India expecting that the fare would be Rs.62. After completing his ride, Deepak was shocked when he received a bill worth Rs.7.66 crore.

The incident was brought to light after a video was posted on X, by Deepak’s friend Ashish Mishra. The video showcases both Deepak and Ashish discussing the bill that was received at the end of the trip.

The video has Deepak showing the camera the bill he received from Uber for his trip, early in the day on Friday, while repeatedly saying the amount on the Uber Bill.

In the viral video, Ashish asks Deepak, “How much is your bill worth, show” and to this Deepak responds and says, “Rs.7,66,83,762”. Deepak stated that he had never counted these many zeros in one go before.

As seen on the bill from the viral video, Deepak's trip amounted to Rs 1,67,74,647 for the “trip fare”; Rs 5,99,09,189 for “waiting time”: and Rs.75 was deducted for promotion cost.

Deepak mentioned in the video that, Uber should not have charged him for any wait time as the Auto driver was not made to wait during the trip. Deepak also states that no GST was charged on the bill.

In the X post, Ashish said, “Early in the morning @Uber_India made @TenguriyaDeepak so rich that he is thinking of taking the Uber franchise next. The good thing is that the trip has not been cancelled yet. Become a crorepati loanee instantly by booking an auto for ₹ 62.”

Uber India Support, promptly responded to the post of the viral video on X, saying, “Hey, sorry to hear about the trouble. Please allow us some time while we are looking into this issue for you. We will get back to you with an update.”

This is not the first time we have seen an incident like this take play. With so many apps being automated, it is only expected that there are going to be technological glitches here and there. However, it is important that brands step up in these situations and rectify the issue at the earliest to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
