U-Boat Worx Nautilus Is A Marine Masterpiece - Yacht And A Submarine At The Same Time
Dutch boat and submarine manufacturer U-Boat Worx recently took the covers of the Nautilus Concept at the Monaco Yacht Show. The marine masterpiece is a 37.5-metre (123-foot) yacht that can actually dive under the water.
Dutch boat and submarine manufacturer U-Boat Worx recently took the covers of the Nautilus Concept at the Monaco Yacht Show.
The Nautilus takes its name from the fictional submarine of the same name from Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea that was sailed under the seas by Captain Nemo. Unlike its fictional counterpart, the new Nautilus is both a submarine and a superyacht and while it is only a bunch of concept images right now, U-Boat Worx seems pretty confident that it can build this marine masterpiece.
The Nautilus from U-Boat Worx is quite the massive vessel. The submarine/superyacht combo marine vehicle is 37.5 metres (123-feet) long and weighs in at 1,250 tonnes.
The U-Boat Worx Nautilus sports a diesel-electric propulsion system. Nautilus can travel at speeds of up to nine knots (16.66km/h) on the surface of the seas but once it dives down under the waves, the hybrid marine machine can travel underwater at four knots (7.4km/h).
This hybrid Nautilus can dive to an impressive 200 metres (650 feet) below the surface of the sea and can stay there for up to 4 days.
The usual array of superyacht features adorn the Nautilus with the hybrid luxury marine machine. The lounge and dining area cover 538 square feet (nearly 50 square metres) and there is a fully equipped galley area. The owner of the Nautilus gets his/her own personal suite and the sub/yacht combo also features four staterooms and sleeping quarters for the crew (the ship/sub hybrid can carry up to 10 passengers and 7 crew members).
The Nautilus also features massive sundeck that also comes with a bar, a dining table and a freshwater swimming pool. This section neatly retracts into the Nautilus before it dives under the waves. When under the waves, inhabitants of the sub can view the oceans around them thanks to the massive circular windows on either side of the superyacht/sub hybrid.
Another feature that those inside the sub can use when under the seas is the Aronnax pressure resistant tender that fits under the aft deck of the Nautilus. The Aronnax can carry up to 5 divers up to a scuba diving location of their choosing.
Those wishing to emulate Captain Nemo and sail under the waves of the seas in luxury will need to shell out €25 million and wait for 30 months to get their own Nautilus.
Thoughts About The U-Boat Worx Nautilus
The U-Boar Worx Nautilus brings the dreams of many a super rich dreamer's dream to life by bringing the luxury superyacht experience to a machine that can go under the waves.
