Lamborghini Gallardo Reaches 402 km/h Before Bursting Into Flames

By Ganesh

Supercars that hit 100 km/h in a few seconds and do not take much longer to hit the mile mark are usually enough to satisfy most owners. Needless to say, there are others who consider a stock high performance car as just the baseline. Starting from there the cars are usually taken to the very edge of what they can endure. There are several tuning shops which specialize in making these supercharged and turbocharged based performance upgrades.

One such supercar, a Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, tuned by Underground Racing was seen recently in a drag strip located near Moscow. This is a well known straight piece of road that stretches more than a mile and regularly features drag races. This particular Gallardo seems to have a twin turbocharger fitted to it.

The final power output managed with the tinkering was a staggering 2005 HP. The owner/driver was brave enough to put the monstrous power to test. He manages to cross the mile mark in 23.9 seconds, travelling at 402 km/h (250 mph).

The run remains uneventful for the most part, but the stress put on the engine pushes it over the edge and it explodes violently, just as the finish line is crossed, spitting out fire in the process. You can watch the spectacular video below.
