DriveSpark Thinks

It is believed that human error played a role in the recent incident in West Bengal. The driver of a goods train passed through a signal that he should not have. Therefore, it is crucial not only to have basic advanced technologies in place but also to establish safety measures to reduce the risk of human error.

This accident has raised concerns about future driverless projects such as the Bangalore Metro. While automation can indeed enhance safety, maintaining public confidence is dependent on a flawless safety track record.

In light of this event, it is essential to thoroughly review safety protocols and develop a clear communication strategy to reassure the public about the safety measures in place for driverless operations.

Potential technological solutions may include radar detectors alerting drivers of upcoming signals, preferably through a prominent voice alert, sensors on the tracks notifying trains of nearby traffic, and automated braking systems ( like we have ADAS for cars), amongst other similar features.
