The saying about not counting your chickens before they hatch was something that came to haunt a tow truck crew rescuing a car from a deep ravine. They pulled out a car which was on the riverbed almost 20 feet under street level and put it down on the tarmac.

So far so good. And then everything went to hell as the car slid down the road and back into the ravine.
