The behind-the-scenes video released by Paramount Pictures shows what happened in what is being described as the biggest stunt in cinema history.
The scene starts off as a high-speed chase sequence. The chase scene ends with Tom Cruise jumping the bike off a cliff when riding the motorcycle. Cruise then base jumps off the bike and pulls out his parachute to get to the ground.
The behind-the-scenes video reveals that the team conducted consisted of multiple skydiving and motocross jumps with the team conducting as many as 30 jumps in a day.
With all the preparation jumps and the building of a ramp that with the help of technology would ensure that the jump goes as planned. However, despite all the test jumps and the tech on offer, the stunt carries a whole lot of danger and if anything did go wrong there was a big chance of injury or even death.
Thankfully for everyone involved, when the time came for the stunt to be filmed for the cameras with Tom Cruise on the bike, the results were absolutely amazing. Cruise blasted the bike up the ramp executing what appeared to be a picture-perfect jump before he based jumped off the bike when it was in the air, much to the delight of the stunt crew and guys behind the camera.
However, being the perfectionist that he is, Tom Cruise did the stunt 6 times, defying death to deliver the biggest stunt to ever hit the movie screens to date. The actor, who turned 60 this year, even made a cheeky face during one of these 6 attempts, injecting a bit of humour into something rather serious.

Tom Cruise continues to defy age and gravity to deliver some of the craziest stunts while riding or driving vehicles in his movies. With reports suggesting that Cruise is set to go to space to film another movie, we should continue to expect more heart-thumping automotive action from Hollywood's king of death-defying stunts.
