The digital certificates can be uploaded through the App. A motorist can show M-Wallet App on their smartphone during a police or Road Transport Authority (RTA) checking .
IT minister K Taraka Rama Rao launched the App at the Secretariat. The M-Wallet app can be downloaded free and one can register themselves using name and mobile phone which will connect them to the transport department data.
The digitally downloaded certificates will be accepted by police and RTA. This will bring an end to police harassment since motorists are victimised for failing to carry the physical documents.
This new initiative will benefit more than 60 lakh driving licence holders and 80 lakh vehicle owners.
