Tejas Express, the luxury train service from Mumbai to Goa has commenced services on Monday, from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. The train was flagged off by Suresh Prabhu, the Railway Minister via video conference.

The Tejas Express project was announced during the 2015 – 16 railway budget to offer passengers a luxurious trip to Mumbai and Goa. The train features call bell function and a GPS-based passenger information display system.

Passengers can help themselves with beverages of their choice, and the train's overall design ensures the passengers are in the utmost comfort. The Tejas Express is also equipped with smoke detectors, CCTV cameras, and automatic plug doors controlled by guards.

The Tejas Express comes with one executive coach and 12 chair cars that are completely air conditioned. Booking a journey on the luxury Tejas Express train would cost Rs 1,033 excluding meals.
