Tata Curvv EV Joins Himachal Pradesh Police Fleet - The Silent Arm Of The Law
The Himachal Pradesh Police have inducted the all-electric Tata Curvv EV into service, making it one of the first Indian law-enforcement fleets to deploy a coupe-styled electric SUV. A recent social-media video showing the vehicles in police livery quickly drew widespread attention across automotive circles.
The images reveal Curvv EVs finished in white, featuring full "Police 112" graphics and rooftop lightbars. The sight of Tata's futuristic EV in official duty trim stands out sharply against the rugged ladder-frame SUVs-Bolero, Scorpio, and Innova-that usually dominate Indian police fleets.

The Curvv's coupe-SUV profile combines aerodynamic styling with the practicality of a compact SUV, giving officers modern mobility while reducing emissions. Its silent operation and instant torque make it particularly suited to hilly regions where quick acceleration and traction control are vital during patrols.
Himachal Pradesh's challenging topography ranges from 350 to 7,000 metres above sea level. In such conditions, traditional petrol and diesel engines lose performance because of reduced air density, whereas electric powertrains remain unaffected by altitude, providing consistent output across varied terrain.

The Curvv EVs used by the police are understood to retain their production-spec interiors, supplemented with law-enforcement equipment. Expect communication consoles, emergency-light controls, and firearm-secure storage integrated within the cabin without altering passenger comfort or ergonomics. Tata Motors is believed to have supplied these vehicles directly under a state-procurement pilot.
Under the bonnet line sits a single electric motor driving the front wheels. The system produces 165 bhp and 215 Nm of torque, drawing energy from a 55 kWh battery pack. Tata Motors claims an ARAI-certified range of 502 km on a single charge.

The Curvv's shares its platform and several components with the Nexon EV MR, offering regenerative braking and multiple drive modes. Its 400-volt electrical system enables rapid charging capability-restoring 10 to 80 per cent charge in under an hour with the help of a DC fast charger.
For patrol operations, reduced noise levels mean improved situational awareness for officers during urban monitoring. Combined with lower running costs and minimal maintenance, the Curvv EV fits the government's plan to reduce long-term fleet expenses while promoting sustainability.
The Himachal Police fleet addition also reflects Tata Motors' expanding EV footprint in institutional sales. Similar vehicles are expected to reach other hill-state departments under the central e-mobility transition programme encouraging public-sector electrification.
