Drone Footage Shows SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket Executing Picture Perfect Landing

SpaceX has released drone footage of its Falcon 9 rocket landing back on earth after launching from the historic Launchpad 39-A, the same spot where Apollo astronauts began their journey to the Moon.

Elon Musk's SpaceX has released drone footage of its Falcon 9 rocket landing back on earth after it sent into space a Dragon capsule carrying 5,000 pounds (2,267.92 kg) worth of supplies destined for the International Space Station.

The drone footage shows the Falcon 9 rocket descending through the clouds and landing flawlessly at SpaceX's Landing Zone 1 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Base in Florida less than a year after a Falcon 9 rocket blew up while sitting on the launchpad.

However, as cool as the Flacon 9 landing was, the launchpad used by the Falcon 9 is something even more special. SpaceX for the first time made use of Launchpad 39-A. The launchpad in earlier times was employed by Apollo astronauts and their Saturn V rockets on their Moon missions and by the Space Shuttles before the program was shut down in 2011.
