J&K To Get SE Asia's Longest Tunnel At A Cost Of Rs. 10,050 Crores
Jammu and Kashmir to get South-East Asia's longest tunnel, Zoji La Pass tunnel. The project will be the biggest National Highway Project in India in terms of cost. The Zoji La Pass tunnel will provide all weather connectivity between Leh-Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir, which is a major advantage for the socioeconomic well-being of the State.
The Zoji La Pass tunnel project includes the construction and maintenance of 14km long tunnel and a 10km long approach road. The project will also include avalanche protection, snow gallery and vertical ventilation shafts which will be constructed over a time period of 7 years.
The construction of such a challenging project in the Himalayas will be carried out by IRB Infra at an estimated project cost of Rs. 10,050 crores. IRB Infra is one of the largest private road developers in India.
