Sarla Aviation To Manufacture Flying Taxis In Andhra Pradesh
Sarla Aviation has signed an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh Government to construct a new manufacturing plant in the Anantapur district to develop eVTOLs (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft). The company has already successfully tested its flying prototype recently in Bengaluru.
Sarla Aviation Flying Taxis in India
India will soon witness flying taxis across major cities as Sarla Aviation moves closer to manufacturing these aircraft in Andhra Pradesh. The new facility will be constructed across 500 acres with an investment of ₹1,300 crore.

The facility will have the capacity to manufacture 1,000 electric air taxis per year. It is expected to become the world's largest eVTOL manufacturing facility once finished. Andhra Pradesh will be the first state in India to produce indigenous electric air taxis, which could transform urban mobility across Indian cities.
This Bengaluru-based startup is set to launch India's first-ever flying taxi service by 2028. These air taxis could ease traffic congestion in major cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi. The company is developing a vertical take-off, helicopter-class aircraft with a 15-metre wingspan. Recently, Sarla Aviation tested a half-scale prototype with a 7.5-metre wingspan at its testing facility in Bengaluru.

A full-scale static aircraft was also showcased during the Bharat Mobility 2025 event. Sarla Aviation has already secured USD 13 million in funding for this project, and the full-scale flying model is likely to be launched by 2027.
These helicopter-class aircraft will have the capability to take off and land vertically, which means only a small launch pad is required for operations. For this, multiple launch facilities could be constructed across several Indian cities.
Sarla Aviation is consistently developing these aircraft at its testing facility. To address operational costs and technical issues, the aircraft are being developed as fully electric platforms with a minimal number of moving parts and a stronger focus on software-driven systems.
Indian cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi are facing severe traffic congestion, making daily commutes frustrating and time-consuming. These electric air taxis could soon transform daily mobility by easing traffic, especially in city centres and congested urban spaces.
