Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, in New Delhi, recently shared an enticing preview of the first bullet train terminal, which is situated at the Sabarmati Multimodal transport hub in Ahmedabad. The footage revealed an impressive fusion of contemporary design and traditional aesthetics.

State-of-the-Art Sabarmati Terminal
Boasting cutting-edge amenities and facilities, the Sabarmati terminal is poised to cater to travellers aboard India's pioneering bullet train. The service promises a swift journey, drastically reducing the travel time to approximately 127 minutes with a remarkable maximum design speed of 350km/h.
Japan's Role In The Bullet Train Project
This ambitious project is unfolding with the technical expertise and monetary support of the Japanese government. Spanning 508 kilometers, inclusive of tunnels and undersea passages, the bullet train endeavor comes with an estimated price tag of Rs 1,08,000 Crore.

The Japanese have extended a soft loan covering 81% of the project cost, with an annual interest rate of a mere 0.1%. This loan is structured with a repayment period extending to half a century, which includes a 15-year grace period.
Genesis & Future Of High-Speed Rail In India
The project took off in 2017, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongside Shinzo Abe, Japan's then Prime Minister. The Shinkansen Technology, synonymous with reliability and safety, serves as the backbone of the project, boasting a stellar safety record over its 50-year history.
Looking ahead, the Indian government has ambitious plans to expand the high-speed rail network, identifying six additional High Speed Rail (HSR) corridors, connecting major cities across the country, thus revolutionizing the future of travel in India.
