Royal Mail Introduces British Auto Legends Stamp Collection
British philatelists, especially those who share a passion for automobiles have been treated to a special stamp collection introduced by the Royal Mail. The ‘Royal Auto Legends' collection as its named, consists of about a dozen stamps.
The stamp collection was introduced on the occasion of the British car company Aston Martin's 100th anniversary and the 150th birthday of Sir Henry Royce, co-founder of another English car company, Rolls Royce.

Cars included in the collection include the 1961 Jaguar E-Type, 1965 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, 1963 Aston Martin DB5, 1968 Morgan Plus 8, 1976 Lotus Esprit and 1962 MG MGB.

These six stamps can be purchased individually, framed and as a collection under the ‘Thoroughbreds set'

They are also available as stamp cards, which includes an additional four - Morris Minor Van, Austin FX4 black cab, Ford Anglia 105E and Land Rover Defender 110 - pieces.

Instead of using existing images of the cars Royal Mail hired well known photographer Andrew Mann to capture the models to be featured in the stamp collection.

It seems special stamps released by the Royal Mail pass through Queen Elizabeth II herself before they are finalized. The same was true for the Royal Auto Legends collection.

The stamps can be purchased online, by phone or from the thousands of post offices that dot the country. Collectors from outside the UK can also try buying them online.
