RightPSI - Tire Caps Which Tell You When Air Pressure Is Low
Tyre pressure is more important than most of us realise and requires more attention than what most of us care to expend. Low tyre pressure is the most common scenario which leads to decreased mileage and increases tyre wear. High tyre pressure on the other hand could lead to decreased traction.
Anyhow you see it maintaining the right pressure all the time is important. But checking the pressure regularly is something that skips our mind and then you have to carry a pressure gauge with you all the time. There has to be a simpler alternative and there is.
It's called RightPSI and it is a tyre cap. The inventors turned a humble cap into a tyre pressure indicator by the simple use of a spring loaded mechanism. Ingenious.
The coloured ring inside the sealed housing moves up and down depending on the pressure. Low pressure would bring a Red ring down, while a yellow ring would come up when the pressure is too high. You'll know the PSI is just right when a black ring becomes visible. Checking tyre pressure could not have been simpler.
The only downside is that each pressure sensitive cap is set to a PSI level to suit a specific vehicle. This means if you get a different vehicle or change the tyres that require a different PSI then you'll need to buy a different RightPSI cap.
The company is also working on new locking mechanisms for their tyre caps to lessen the chance of theft.
RightPSI is currently awaiting crowd funding at Kickstarter and the company needs to raise $20,000 to bring the product to production. Cost of these caps vary depending on number of pieces you purchase. For more details visit the Right PSI Kickstarter page.
