The stage is set in Mandalika, Indonesia, where six races will likely decide the fate of the championship across six countries in a span of seven weeks. For the second time, the majestic Mandalika International Circuit is all set to host the exciting Indonesian Grand Prix. The circuit made its exhilarating debut in the race calendar the previous year and is now prepared to see a flurry of action once more.

After securing a romantic podium at Honda's home round in Japan, the eyes of the racing world are on Marc Marquez as he arrives in Indonesia with a burning intent to make a significant impact. Marquez had a rough weekend during the 2022 Indonesian Grand Prix. The challenging conditions led to the eight-time World Champion being forced to withdraw ahead of his debut Indonesian round.

However, this time, Marquez is excited to make amends and present a thrilling race for his Indonesian fans. With his tireless determination and steady improvements in each of the previous races, Marquez, along with the Repsol Honda Team, is eagerly looking forward to the racing events in Indonesia and the end of the year.

Joan Mir is also marking his return after the brief break. Following two confidence-boosting weekends in India and Japan, Mir’s rapport with the Honda RC213V is consistently improving. Battling through a drenching downpour for the sixth position in the 2022 Indonesian GP, Mir has shown exciting speed around the 4.3km track of Mandalika. He is hopeful of recapturing this pace once again on the Honda machinery for an exciting finish to the current season.

The Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika marks the beginning of two epic triple headers, which are anticipated to wrap up the fascinating 2023 season. Interestingly, for the first time ever, Saturday, October 14, will witness Indonesia hosting its first Sprint Race consisting of 13 exhilarating laps.

The following day, the MotoGP field will contend for the main event, a neck-to-neck race consisting of 27 laps around the mesmerizing Mandalika track. This makes it the fourth Indonesian Grand Prix since the year 1996.

Marc Marquez said, "Our objective for this race is exactly the same as the ones which remain this year: go out and do our maximum to finish 2023 in the best way possible as a team. Indonesia is always an incredible country to visit, you can really feel the passion of the fans here and I enjoy coming here more and more each time. Unfortunately, last year I had a crash in Warm Up so finally I wasn't able to race but I rode here in the test and during practice as well so we have some idea what to expect this year. Let's put on a good show this weekend and really just enjoy it."

Joan Mir had this to say, "We arrive in Indonesia after a week at home, refreshed and ready to go. In Japan we had some disappointment, but I am looking to put that behind me and use it for motivation. Last year we achieved a good result in sixth in very tricky conditions so we need to see what's possible this weekend and also what the weather does. Right now the forecast is looking very hot!"
