Rapido And UP Police Collaborate For Safety Awareness By Distributing Free Helmets

Safe driving is not just a set of rules to follow; it's a responsible and caring approach to navigating the roads. Each time we step behind the wheel or mount a two-wheeler, we are entrusted with the safety of ourselves, our passengers, and everyone sharing the road.

One of the most fundamental aspects of safe driving is the use of helmets, a small yet incredibly significant measure that can spell the difference between life and death in the event of an accident.

In a recent development, bike-taxi aggregator, Rapido, has partnered with the Uttar Pradesh Police to encourage safe riding habits among two wheeler users. As a part of this collaboration, the police department distributed over 100 helmets with the Rapido logo to individuals in Noida.

The giveaway took place at the Botanical Garden Metro Station in Noida. These helmets have an ISO certification, and are built based on the strict quality norms. They were distributed to young travelers and families with limited financial resources, who typically face challenges in obtaining suitable safety equipment.

Saurabh Srivastava, ACP Traffic of Gautam Buddha Nagar, led the helmet distribution campaign. The recipients were also educated about the significance of wearing a helmet, particularly in relation to practicing safe driving habits.

The effort is in line with Rapido's dedication to encourage safe driving behaviors among riders and to ensure that riding two-wheelers becomes a secure and dependable mode of commuting in the nation.

Through the distribution of free helmets, the company aims to motivate riders to use certified helmets, enhancing their personal safety and lowering the risks of injuries and fatalities in the event of road accidents.

Among all road users, two-wheeler riders are the most susceptible group in India, and wearing a helmet serves as a form of protection, significantly reducing the likelihood of fatal outcomes in the event of accidents.

Pavan Guntupalli, Co-Founder, Rapido, said, "The negligence amongst riders with regards to the use of preventive gears such as helmets is a cause of major concern. Wearing certified helmets properly can reduce serious injuries in accidents involving riders."

"We are thankful to have had this opportunity to participate in the Uttar Pradesh Police led initiative for guiding riders on the pathway of safe driving practices." Pavan Guntupalli added.

According to information from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), the largest number of deaths in road accidents occur among two-wheeler riders. In 2021, about 70,000 riders lost their lives in accidents, making up approximately 44% of the total deaths caused by traffic accidents.

Thoughts On Rapido Partnering With UP Police To Distribute Helmets

Rapido's collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Police to distribute helmets is a commendable initiative that promotes road safety and responsible riding. By providing free, certified helmets to two-wheeler riders, especially to those who may not have easy access to protective gear, this partnership addresses a crucial aspect of road safety.

This endeavor not only raises awareness about the importance of wearing helmets but also encourages a culture of safe riding practices. It's a positive step towards making Indian-roads safer for everyone and highlights the responsible role that businesses and law enforcement agencies can play in ensuring the well-being of citizens.
