Pikes Peak Dominated By Electric Monster
Pikes Peak is a mountain in the Rocky Mountains, it has got famous over the years due to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. It is situated 16 kilometres to the west of Colorado Springs in El Paso County.
The run is usually done with powerful vehicles that are heavily modified. However, with everyone thinking about the future and alternate fuels Nobuhiro 'Monster' Tajima decided to participate in 91st Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in an electric car.
Nobuhiro 'Monster' Tajima wanted to make a point that electric cars should be taken seriously and can compete with conventional fuel powered engines. His goal was to break his own record of 9:51.278 established back in 2011.
Tajima in his E-Runner electric car completed the Pikes Peak run in 9:46.530 and came first in the Electric class. When his time was compared with fossil fuel powered vehicles he was fifth fastest.
