India Rides The Digital Payment Wave With 'Pay by Car'
The digital payments industry in India is continually evolving, setting trends for the global marketplace. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), in collaboration with ToneTag, has launched a revolutionary contactless payment method named 'Pay by Car'.
This latest innovative payment system allows car users to make payments for fuel and other services directly through their vehicle's infotainment system, eliminating the need for smartphones or other types of online payment services.

How It Works?
Pay by Car uses the car's infotainment system and operates using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). Users can locate a nearby Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) petrol station using the system. After selecting the station and inputting the payment amount for fuel, the BPCL employee receives a notification.
Once the fueling is done, Pay by Car deducts the amount from the digital wallet or FASTag. Interestingly, the payment can also be made using voice command technology by ToneTag. For instances, where the user is unable to trace the petrol pump, the invested amount is refunded within 48 hours.
Wider Applications Of 'Pay by Car'
Pay by Car isn’t limited to fuel payment. It is designed to simplify transactions across various outlets such as coffee shops, grocery stores, and restaurants. Through the use of high-wave frequency communication and the Opera Network for Digital Communication (ONDC), it offers a seamless experience of contactless payments.
With the introduction of Pay by Car, NPCI and ToneTag have once again demonstrated India's advancing digital payment landscape. This also sets a tall example to the world and shows how much the country has progressed in the digital payments sector.
This contactless payment method is not just limited to fuel payment, but it also bridges the gap between payment systems and everyday commodities, offering a seamless and contactless payment experience.
