Did Pagani Just Break The Nurburgring Lap Record?
Pagani Automobili used the Zonda F at the Nurburgring to decimate the lap record nine years ago. The company put Marc Basseng behind the wheel, who went to shatter Porsche's unofficial lap record by almost 4 seconds.
The record time was 7:27.82 around the 12.9-mile (20.76 km) long track. In a facebook post published by Pagani, it brought back the memories of that record run. The post ends with the ‘to be continued' message, meaning Pagani wants to retain the title.
The automakers choice of weapon seems to the Huayra BC, which was spotted at ‘The Green Hell' driven by Marc Basseng less than a month ago. The current lap record is held by the Porsche 918 Spyder driven by Porsche factory race driver Marc Lieb.
Porsche 918 Spyder is the undisputed ‘Green Hell' king which set a time of 6:57 for road legal cars.
The all-time record around the Nurburgring track was achieved by Stefan Bellof in a Porsche 956 race car back in May 1983 with a lap time of 6 minutes and 11 seconds.
So, we have wait for an official statement in the near future from Pagani. The big question is, by how many seconds it beat the 918 Spyder?
