O. P. Munjal, Hero Cycles Founder Passes Away On 13th August
Founder of Hero Cycles, O. P. Munjal passed away on 13th of August, 2015 at the age of 86. He passed away in Hero Heart Institute, which is at Ludhiana Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.
He will forever be known as the father of cycle industry in India. O. P. Munjal, along with his siblings commenced spare parts of cycles in 1944, which soon turned into largest manufacturer of cycles across globe.
Hero Cycles currently accounts for 48 percent market share in India's bicycle market. At this moment they manufacture 19,000 cycles per day, which is a feat in itself.
They are also listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest cycle manufacturer back in 1986. O. P. Munjal was instrumental during this era and made sure his company was on the right track.
Hero Cycles is currently promoted in India by Arjun Kapoor and is working on a new philosophy called ‘Cycle of Life'. They offer a wide range of bicycles even in the modern era of India.
