Nitin Gadkari Plans To Replace VIP Car Sirens - Sound Pollution Solution?
Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road, Transport, and Highways, has expressed his intention to stop the use of sirens on VIP cars. This step follows the central government's previous decision to eliminate red lights or beacons from VIP vehicles, marking another important move.
Yet, the elimination of sirens isn't the only aspect of this development. There's an intriguing suggestion from the minister. Gadkari has put forward the idea that instead of sirens on VIP cars, they could emit calming music from Indian musical instruments.
While speaking at the opening event of Pune's Chandni Chowk flyover, Nitin Gadkari made this statement, as per ANI's report. He mentioned that this step would help manage noise pollution.
"Controlling sound pollution is very important. I am lucky that I got an opportunity to turn on the red light (beacon) on VIP's vehicle. Now, I am planning to put an end to sirens on VIP vehicles," said Gadkari.
He also expressed his desire to substitute the noise of horns and sirens with the calming tunes of musical instruments. The minister also indicated that such a policy is currently being developed.
"I am making a policy in which the siren sound would be replaced by the sound of Bansuri (flute), Tabla, and Shankh. I want people to be relieved from noise pollution," Gadkari added. In recent years, the Indian car industry has experienced the introduction of various reforms.
Since taking on the role of the Minister for Road, Transport, and Highways, Nitin Gadkari has introduced several reforms in the sector. If put into action, the replacement of horns and sirens with the melodies of classical musical instruments would be another notable and intriguing change.
His ministry has introduced various regulations, including making seatbelt usage mandatory for both front and rear occupants. All vehicles now require speed warning alerts. Moreover, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has also recently mandated the inclusion of air-conditioned cabins in larger trucks and heavy vehicles.
