Nissan GT-R: A Short Documentary About The Famed GT-R Engine

By Ganesh

The Nissan GT-R's claim to fame is its Bugatti Veyron rivaling performance for the price of a Porsche 911 turbo. It may not be the fastest car in the world, but outright speed makes little difference in a twisting and winding racetrack. This is where the Nissan GT-R excels. Take for example, the Nurburgring. The mighty Veyron has never posted an official time at the German circuit, but we'll bet the GT-R will establish a better time hands down.

A large part of the GT-R's superior performance comes from the legendary 3.8 liter twin turbocharged V6 engine. Sure, there is a lot more to a car's performance than just the engine. The super fast cornering speeds, for instance, is achieved due to the cleverly engineered suspension system, braking system and other complicated mechanics. But all those will be for not if it weren't for the engine.

In this short documentary developed & released by Nissan we meet the people behind the legendary GT-R engine. You will be surprised to know that only four engineers at Nissan's Japan plant are behind each and every GT-R engine produced. These experts are equal to artisans, who handcraft each engine (including the super gt300 racing versions) and just like any other artist the engineer marks his creation with his signature, which in this case is a nameplate bearing the name of the person who built it.
