F1 Driver Narain Karthikeyan Buys Himself A Porsche 911 GT3; Opts For Clubsport & Sport Chrono Pack
Narain Karthikeyan buys Porsche 911 GT3.
India's first F1 driver Narain Karthikeyan has treated himself to a new Porsche 911 GT3. Karthikeyan took the delivery of the brand new 911 GT3 at the Porsche Centre in Mumbai. Porsche had launched the 911 GT3 in October 2017 with a whopping price tag of Rs 2.3 crore ex-showroom, but Narain's 911 GT3 cost a lot more. The former F1 driver has opted for the Clubsport package as well as the Sport Chrono package.
While the Clubsport package for the new Porsche 911 GT3 includes GT3 sport bucket seats finished in Alcantara and leather, 6-point harness and roll cage, the Sport Chrono package consists of the sportscar maker's Track Precision app and lap trigger preparation.
This package comprises a stopwatch on the dashboard and the newly developed Porsche Track Precision app for the smartphone. Timings are displayed on the Sport Chrono stopwatch and in the instrument cluster. The control stalk operates the stopwatch for the onboard computer.

The all-new Porsche 911 GT3 is built mainly for track performance, and Narain Karthikeyan seems to have made his choice of a track oriented sports cars. Visually, Narian's Porsche 911 GT3 is seen with stock alloy wheels; headlamps are stock as well which comes with projector lighting along with black inserts. The Porsche 911 GT3 gets the Guards Red colour, and we feel he might have opted for the seatbelts in red as well.
The new Porsche 911 GT3 carries the design language of the 911 with its sharp sloping roof and other signature stylings. The 911 GT3 gets the aero package as standard, larger wheels and smoked headlamps; however, it misses out on the LED inserts. The massive rear wing offers tons of downforce, and the chassis has been upgraded with rear-axle steering. Along with the lightweight construction, the driving dynamics improves significantly.
The new Porsche 911 GT3 features auto climate control, Bose's surround sound system and a touchscreen infotainment system, while Apple CarPlay comes standard. The new Porsche 911 GT3 safety features include side impact protection elements on doors, two side airbags on each side, integral thorax airbag in each seat side bolster and upward inflating head airbag located on each door.
Under the hood, the Porsche 911 GT3 draws power from a 4-litre flat-6 engine tuned to produce 493bhp and 540Nm of torque. As for the gearbox, you choose between the 7-speed PDK automatic gearbox or the more exciting 6-speed manual gearbox.
The Porsche 911 GT3 can sprint to 100kmph in 3.4 seconds from a standstill on the automatic with a top speed of 318kmph. The 911 GT3, with the manual gearbox, takes half a second more to sprint to 100kmph but has a higher top speed of 320kmph.
