MotoGP Takes India by Storm: Returns in 2024
Motor sports in India achieved a new pinnacle with the inaugural edition of the IndianOil Grand Prix of India. Being an international event, it attracted over one lakh fervent spectators not only from India but across the globe. The event was globally telecast over 195 nations, marking India's grand entry into the world arena of MotoSports.
Encouraged by the overwhelming response and monumental success, FIM, the global governing body of motorcycle racing, has announced the return of MotoGP to India in 2024. The Grand Prix of India will be the 16th race in its calendar, following the San Marino GP according to the provisional calendar released globally.

The event remarkably generated a business turnover of Rs 930 crore, signifying the economic potential such a global event can bring with it. The remarkable debut of MotoGP in India attracted approximately 15,000 foreign visitors, who were immensely impressed by the international standards and facilities offered by the race and the organisers. The Grand Prix India's inclusion in the next year's calendar underscores the substantial economic potential associated with such global events.
The Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida hosted the event. The Italian rider Marco Bezzecchi, who clinched a strong pole position for VR46, was a major highlight of the event. He made a lasting impact with his performance and was cheered on by the enthusiastic crowd at the MGS and other stands, and also by a million fans watching on TV and OTT platforms worldwide. Over 150 of the world’s best auto journalists appreciated the organization of the event and their satisfying experience enabled them to share the race details with millions of fans and readers across the world.
The event offered a variety of activities in the Fan Zone with various auto and lifestyle brands engaging spectators with live music, gaming zones, F&B, live stunting, Red Bull Wingsuit Jump, among others. The MotoGP drew the attention of celebrity figures including renowned motorcycling ambassador John Abraham, Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, popular cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Yuvraj Singh, and actress Gul Panag who cheered the crowds and enjoyed the spectacle.
The exceptional planning and logistics of the entire event played a vital role, with over 5,000 foreign technical backend team members ensuring a smooth and glitch-free experience for the racing teams in MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3.
Manoj Kumar Singh, Industrial & Infrastructure Development Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh government, expressed that MotoGP Bharat establishes the groundwork for long-term investment and economic surge. According to him, Uttar Pradesh is ready to embrace a global influx of investors, providing them with an inclusive growth opportunity in a favorable macroeconomic environment. He believes that MotoGP Bharat's success has opened up opportunities for a sustained long-term growth for global brands in the Auto Industries in the years to come.
Pushkar Nath Srivastava, Founder & Chief Operating Officer of FairStreet Sport, echoed a similar sentiment. He stated that the resounding success of the event in a country where cricket is a dominant sport, signifies a paradigm shift and a remarkable achievement for both the organizers and the global body.
