Can Marquez Put Up A Fight For His Home Crowd? MotoGP Barcelona And Repsol Honda
The second half of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship promises intense action, beginning with the Catalan GP. This event holds particular importance for Repsol Honda Team and its riders. The race will take place on the historic Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where Honda has previously secured a notable number of victories.
The latter part of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship is poised to be action-packed, with the Catalan GP marking the start of a stretch of ten races in just 13 weeks. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will play host to Round 11, an event that holds special significance for both the Repsol Honda Team and its riders.
This track, stretching over 4.66 kilometres, has been a consistent fixture on the MotoGP calendar since its inception in the early 90s. It's witnessed Honda secure an impressive tally of 23 victories across all categories, including ten in the elite class - their most recent win being in 2019.

Marc Marquez was responsible for this latest triumph during his successful campaign towards becoming World Champion that year. He boasts two victories at this circuit located just a few hours from his birthplace. His schedule for this weekend mirrors that of previous ones: working diligently alongside Repsol Honda Team and HRC engineers to continue making strides forward. This strategy paid off last time around in Austria when he made it back into point-scoring territory.
Joan Mir also considers Barcelona his home round as he hails from Palma situated just off shore. The #36 rider has consistently performed well here with two fourth-place finishes, one runner-up position and sixth place being his lowest finish yet.
Despite not achieving desired results in Austria, Mir demonstrated significant progress throughout the weekend but fell victim to misfortune during race day itself. Staying on course will be pivotal for him as he aims to impress local supporters as reigning MotoGP World Champion.Post-weekend plans include heading straight to Italy where they'll participate in San Marino Grand Prix - second-last European race and final mid-season test.
Marc Marquez said, "Barcelona weekends are always extraordinary due to packed stands and passionate fans who attend my home race every year without fail. Regardless of anything else, our primary goal is ensuring spectators have a memorable experience filled with thrilling moments over these three days. We've got tasks lined up which we aim to tackle calmly like we did recently where our approach yielded positive outcomes allowing us valuable data collection opportunities."
Joan Mir had this to say: "I'm eager about my upcoming home GP at Montmelo this weekend where I hope to deliver strong results before my local audience while maintaining our focus on continuous improvement similar to what we achieved last week at Austria despite not ending on high note."

Could this be the come back of Repsol Honda as both their riders will be on home turf? With some success in the previous rounds, Honda has to keep their head held high and hope for the best as they have had an unlucky season so far. The use of a new aero design might be the key to geting Repsol Honda back on track.
