Michael Schumacher Critical; Still In Coma After Skiing Accident

F1 legend and Seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher is in critical condition, following the injuries he suffered while skiing in French Alps. He was struck on the head and sustained injuries, still in coma.

The German was seen skiing in Meribel resort, where he accidentally fell on a rock. He was airlifted to a nearby local hospital, later was taken to Grenoble facility. A neurosurgeon specialist was rushed from Paris to overlook treatment.

Meribel resort Director, Christophe Gernigon-Lecotme explains, Schumacher was wearing a helmet. He was conscious, however agitated after the accident, thus implying no life threatening injury was sustained.

Schumacher however, fell into a coma, proving his injuries were graver than initially believed.

The German Legend was born in January 1969, near Cologne. Son of a bricklayer, that also ran a local go-kart facility, his mother worked in the canteen there.

Michael Schumacher was the European and German go-kart Champion by 1987. He debuted into Formula One at Belgium in 1991 and qualified in seventh position. A year later he drove for Benetton and won his first Formula One Grand Prix in the same year.

The German joined Ferrari in 1996, where he was disqualified from the championship, as he ran Villeneuve off-track in the last race of 1997 at Jerez.

Schumacher first retired from competitive racing at the age of 37. Where he dominated the track and was untouchable. However, the racer in him was lured back in 2010 with Mercedes for a three year deal.

The German's aging reflexes plus the incompetent car hindered his prior days of glory. He quit Formula One for good in 2012.

He had a message written on his helmet for fans reading, "Life is about passions, Thank you for sharing mine."
