Video: Mark Webber Drives Porsche 919 Hybrid Endurance Racer In London
Today, Mark Webber roamed around in the streets of London in Porsche's 919 Hybrid endurance racer. He drove through some of the city's most iconic areas. The roads weren't blocked off for the four-mile demonstration run in a track-only 919 race car.
The Australian racing driver shared the tarmac with everyday commuters between 6 am and 7 am local time. During the course of this demo run, he was surrounded by eight local police vehicles.
The Le-Mans Triumphing 919 passed London's iconic areas such as Park Lane, Charing Cross, Embankment, Parliament Square, Piccadilly Circus and Westminster Bridge.
Webber was so excited to make this run and before the run, he said, "This will be the first time ever that the Porsche 919 Hybrid has been driven on a public road. I'm stoked to be behind the wheel - it's going to be pretty cool."
