Mantra Racing, headed by Mr Pratap Jayaram, have a lot of such cool projects in their portfolio. Their name is popular in the racing and motorsports scene in India. They are pioneers in building proper track-spec cars.
Perhaps their most famous project would be the RevaBusa, an insane Maini Reva swapped with a Suzuki Hayabusa engine. Coming to their latest project, this is how the awesome electric wheelchair with AC came to life!
A friend of Mr Pratap was facing some difficulty in walking. Doctors and relatives suggested him to use a wheelchair. But he didn't want any of those ordinary boring wheelchairs available in the market. He shared the same to Mr Pratap, and the idea of a cool wheelchair was born. Mantra Racing started the project, and to make the wheelchair like no other, they decided to install AC in it. The armrests and headrest are provided with adjustable vents to channel the airflow.
The Mantra Racing wheelchair also comes equipped with a pop-up Android tablet which handles the music, maps, email and phone department. This feature alone opens door to a lot of functionalities. Other features include the lighting system, with hazard warnings. To make things more interesting, Mantra Racing has installed custom alloy wheels and a big spoiler at the back of the electric wheelchair. The blue wheelchair doesn't have an ordinary seat, but has a racing bucket!
The Mantra Racing electric wheelchair uses a 24V system with a dual-motor setup. The unit can be upgraded to 48V, in case 24V isn't ‘fun' enough. The wheelchair has five selectable speeds, for most riding conditions. The top speed is electronically adjustable. It also has a claimed range of 30 kilometers.
Thoughts On The Mantra Racing Electric Wheelchair
Though started as a project for a friend, Mantra Racing claims that there is a market for such products. The project is aimed to be both functional, as well as, unique. Mantra Racing, being a motorsports group, have made sure that their electric wheelchair isn't slow. The insane design, the comfort of an AC, and an Android tablet to play with, makes the Mantra Racing electric wheelchair, something we want rather than something we need. Would you break your leg for riding one of these?
