Mahindra Thar Catches Fire While Driving: Video Shows Mahindra Thar Burning To A Crisp
A Mahindra Thar fire incident has been reported. Visuals of a Mahindra Thar on fire have surfaced and there aren't many details about what exactly happened. What we can say though is that the video could be distressing for those who love the Mahindra Thar.

Automobiles and fire aren't two things that blend well. A small fire that originates anywhere within a car will quickly spread to the rest of the vehicle and before you know it, the entire car will be turned into scrap metal. That is exactly what happened to this Mahindra Thar.

The video of the Thar on fire was uploaded by the YouTube channel Raftaar 7811 and the title of the video mentions that the Thar caught fire while on the move, heading to Panipat from Delhi. So, it is quite obvious that the incident took place on NH44. It is a 90-kilometre drive from Delhi to Panipat and it is quite strange that the incident took place on that short a drive.

There are no other details of the incident at the moment, but we do suspect a short circuit to have caused the fire. The Mahindra Thar has in recent times become one of the most popular cars in India. Thousands of units have been sold so far and most buyers are extremely happy with their purchase.

The Thar has until now not had any major incidents except a few crashes. A few Mahindra Thar SUVs were burnt to a crisp in a dealership fire, but apart from this incident nothing really has managed to char the Thar yet.

This is where our suspicion is drawn to aftermarket accessories. Aftermarket accessories here may include speakers, infotainment, new switches, auxiliary lighting, ambient lighting, upgraded horn, etc. All of the aforementioned accessories require quite a bit of wiring to be done and if the modifications were carried out at an unauthorised centre, chances are that the wiring might have not been done properly.
Improper wiring for accessories always poses a risk of short circuit, and this could also lead to a fire. It is for this very reason that manufacturers do not suggest the addition of aftermarket accessories.
This, however, is still speculation and we await more details regarding this Mahindra Thar fire incident.

Thoughts On Mahindra Thar Catching Fire While Driving
If there was an inherent issue or fire hazard with the Mahindra Thar, we would have seen quite a few charred Mahindra Thars until now. However, this does seem to be a one-off incident and hence we await details of why exactly this happened. We're also sure Mahindra will look into the incident and take account of why exactly this happened.
