Mahindra Tractors Opens Skill Development Centre In Nagpur To Empower Rural Youth
The VEDIC-Mahindra Skill Development Centre was inaugurated at the Ordnance Factory in Ambajhari. The event saw the presence of Shri. Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport & Highways.
Mahindra Tractors has been a leading tractor brand in India for decades. Since its first tractor roll-out in 1963 through a joint venture with International Harvester Inc., USA, Mahindra & Mahindra became the first Indian tractor brand to sell 3 million tractors by March 2019, including global sales.

Focus on Rural Youth
The centre is a collaborative effort between VDIA (Vidharbha Defence Industries Association), Yantra India Ltd., and Mahindra Tractors. It aims to address challenges faced by rural youth and promote skill development in the Vidharbha region.

Comprehensive Curriculum
The curriculum at VEDIC-Mahindra SDC covers skill development across tractor service, sales, and assembly. Delivered by top trainers in this field, students will have access to modern technical equipment and hands-on experience in various aspects of tractor-related skills.
Mahindra Tractors celebrates 60 years of leadership in the domestic market and has sold 40 lakh tractors. This centre underscores its commitment to rural prosperity through youth empowerment. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's emphasis on skill development as a national priority.
Global Presence
Mahindra's tractors are known for their exceptional build quality and performance on rugged terrain. The company has earned both the Deming Award and Japanese Quality Medals. It is the only tractor manufacturer to achieve this feat and offers a diverse range of tractors for both domestic and global markets.
The event also witnessed dignitaries like Shri. Dinesh Rai, Founder Chairman of AIM & Former Secretary MSME GOI; Mr Gurudutt Ray, officiating Chairman & Managing Director of Yantra India Ltd.; Mr Nachiket Kodkani, Sr. VP - Mfg., CME SCPC & Quality at Mahindra Tractors; Mr Kapil Chandrayan, Consultant NSDC; Mr Vipin Itankar IAS District Collector Nagpur; and Mr Dilip V. Gondnale Chairman VEDIC along with other dignitaries.
