Mahindra has brought a fictional car to life, dubbed Bujji, for the film Kalki 2898 AD, starring Kamal Haasan and Prabhas.
This fully functional vehicle, designed to run on Indian roads, is currently being showcased across various locations to promote the film. The car has garnered significant public interest.
In this narrative, a car plays a crucial role alongside the main characters. To bring this fictional car to life, the filmmakers approached Mahindra.
The car has a unique design with two large wheels at the front and a single, large roller-like wheel at the back. This design has captivated audiences.
Mahindra's research centre in Chennai and Jayem Automotives in Coimbatore collaborated to transform the imaginary car into a real-world vehicle.
Mahindra used its advanced technology to create this car, which features prominently in the film's trailer.
Electric Power and Technical Specifications
Bujji is powered by two electric motors, making it a fully electric vehicle. It measures 6075 mm in length, 3380 mm in width, and 2186 mm in height, with a ground clearance of 180 mm. The vehicle weighs 6000 kg.
The tires are specially designed to handle its immense weight. The two motors generate a combined power output of 94 kW, and Bujji's torque reaches an impressive 9800 Nm.
Jayem Automotives' Contribution
Jayem Automotives played a vital role in creating this unique car. Known for manufacturing essential automotive components like engines, gearboxes, and suspensions, Jayem also produces motors and batteries for electric vehicles.
The company previously collaborated with Tata Motors to design the Nano and later created JTP versions of the Tiago and Tigor models. Now, they have partnered with Mahindra for Kalki 2898 AD to produce Bujji.
Promotion and Public Reaction
Actress Keerthy Suresh provides the voice for Bujji in the film. The crew plans to promote the car by driving it through major cities in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai. People have been stopping to admire Bujji's unique design on the streets.
