Liberace's Gold Plated Cadillac To Be Auctioned
This is not gold chrome plating or gold paint. This is a Cadillac with actual gold plating on its body. This one of a kind convertible Cadillac coupe was once owned by celebrated American pianist and vocalist Władziu Valentino Liberace or simply known as Liberace.
Liberace's gold plated Cadillac will soon be put up for sale at an auction arranged by Barons. The auction will be take place in England on September 17. This Cadillac can add bling to an enthusiasts private collection like no other car can. Take a look.

The car started its life like any other Cadillac Golfer's Drop Head Coupe in the year 1931.

The car got its bling only in the 1970s courtesy of its then owner, a certain Jack Smith from Kansas, in the U.S.

Smith transformed the Cadillac to its current form over a period of three years, only to later sell it at an auction in 1975.

The previous abode of the gold plated Cadillac was a German museum where it was on display for 12 years as Liberace's Cadillac.

A few notable features of the car include silver external door handles and 24 karat gold plated internal door handles, apart from the 23.75 karat gold plated body of course.

The interior sports white leather upholstery and apparently comes with a functioning soft hood.

One last, rather special feature the car boosts of are the headlights. They turn with the steering wheel, in a similar manner to the headlights in a few modern high-end luxury cars such as the new Mercedes S Class.

The Cadillac has a 5.7 liter V8 under the bonnet, mated to a rather modest three speed, but automatic transmission.

Barons' auction will take place on September 17 at the Sandown Park horse racing track in Surrey, England. Bidding for the Cadillac starts at 85,000 pounds or about INR 90 lakhs.
