LG Develops ‘Invisible’ Speakers For Cars – Lighter & Less Bulky Than Conventional Speakers
Speakers are generally large and bulky. Since cars and other automobiles have limited space, having a smaller speaker with the same output is always welcome.
That being said, LG is now set to revolutionise automobile speaker technology by developing the "Thin Actuator Sound Solution" technology, resulting in extremely thin and light speakers for cars.
Speaking about the LG's revolutionary new automobile speaker technology, Mr Yeo Chun-ho, Vice President and Head of the Business Development Division at LG Display said "We have transformed the conventionally heavy and bulky speaker into a high-quality 'invisible' sound solution by using our cutting-edge technology to elevate space, design, and eco-friendly factors and provide a next-level sound experience like none before,".
Diving into the details, this new "Invisible" speaker resembles a passport in terms of its size measuring just 150mm in height and 90mm in width. Furthermore, the thickness of this new speaker measures just 2.5mm - Which is less than the thickness of a 5 Rupee coin.
In addition to being extremely compact, the LG's new invisible speaker is extremely light as well. At 40gms, the LG's invisible speakers could soon make its way into many supercars as shedding weight is a major part of supercar development and the new LG speaker could turn out to be an irresistible choice for many supercar manufacturers.
While if you are curious about how this extremely compact unit developed by LG produces sound, the basic idea is pretty simple where the device's unique technology vibrates display panels and materials inside the car body to generate sound and deliver immersive 3D sound technology.
It is also worth mentioning that the LG's new invisible speakers can be easily installed in different parts of the body of a car to improve packing efficiency. As a result, the available interior space of a car can be improved by a significant margin as well.
