Horsepower Vs Dog Power: Land Rover Races Man's Best Friend On Ice

The Land Rover Discovery Sport takes on a dog sled to show off its off-roading ability with some help from man's best friend.

Dogs and cars are two things that many people cannot live without. Land Rover decided to pit them against each other in a race on snow in the middle of summer.

Thankfully, Land Rover didn't need the help of the Winter King from Game of Thrones to bring winter quicker than usual. Instead, the British SUV manufacturer and Finnish middle distance champion Laura Kääriäinen - and her team of six sled dogs raced inside the Vesileppis Ski Tunnel in Finland which is kept at a chilly -2° C. The tunnel features a 1-kilometre long course, which played host to the unusual race.

To negate the SUV's horsepower advantage, the Land Rover Discovery Sport was forced to go through an icy obstacle to slow it down.

DriveSpark Thinks!

The race between man's best friend and the Land Rover Discovery Sport was used to show off the SUV's off-roading capability on Snow which is one of the most demanding surfaces drivers will encounter during winter. In the end, the Land Rover Discovery Sport proves itself to be as capable as a dog sled team in a race that was too close to call, which is a good thing considering how good a Husky dog sled team can be on frozen ground.
