Slovenian custom bike builders Krakenhead got their hands on a Goldwing GL1000 which was in production between 1974 and 1979 and decided to build a cafe racer based on the iconic Honda Motorcycle.

Krakenhead's first plan was to modify the stance of the Goldwing, add new components, give it a new paint job and put it back on the road. However, the result looked like every other Goldwing cafe racer, so Krakenhead decided to give it more radical upgrades.

The final result was the Blueberry Bomber which combined with the first regular cafe racer they came up with took Krakenhead 7 months to build.

Krakenhead went to work on the Goldwing kicking out the shocks and replacing them with 45mm Showa forks, the last ‘conventional' suspension setup that Honda used on the CBR line. The brakes which look vintage are from a GSX-R1100 (manufactured between 86-98).

Krakenhead also replaced the Goldwing GL1000's under seat fuel tank with a regular fuel tank from the CB750 SOHC SS. However, the Krakenhead builders removed the seams from SS's fuel tank and installed a pop-up fuel cap.

Removing the under seat fuel storage allowed Kraken to mount an upgraded rear Nissin master cylinder from the latest CBR and the frame of the bike now supports Tarrozzi rear sets while the side stand has been moved forward as well.

The engine of the Blueberry Bomber Goldwing is really done up with new pistons, valve guides, belts, tensioners and internal chains - along with new cam, rod and main bearings.

However, the biggest change is the new carburettor setup which is a set of Weber carbs which were sourced from a Porsche.

Krakenhead also built custom manifolds and linkages along with fuel tank emblems, battery box and front water cooler grill.

The headlight unit on the Krakenhead Blueberry Bomber is a Lucas PL700 tripod unit with the distinctive ‘three leg' internal structure around which the Slovenian bike builders added a big fairing in classic British cafe racer style which features an incorporated a coolant overflow tank.

The leather seat is the work of master leatherworker Aleš Urbanc who also lined the inside of the fairing with leather. The fairing also hides the custom tachometer with its laser cut front plate and a Racetronics digital speedo with integrated control lights. The rest of the electronics including the switchgear and wire loom have been upgraded as well.

The new digital instrumentation also saw Krakenhead guys replace the old fuel pump with a Facet Electronic fuel pump which allowed them to remove the 'ugly cam cap which wasn't needed anymore. Instead, Rok from Krakenhead told Bike Exif Krakenhead "just modelled a new part and had it CNC milled, which we finished up with a mirror polish."

The final touch applied to the custom bike was that brilliant blue paint job. Based on the paint scheme from a vintage Honda CB750, the Blueberry Bomber sports a deep indigo blue paint job which is saturated with purple and blue flakes.
